About this publication

This strategy explains the Council's commitment to equality of opportunity and respect for diversity in its role as a provider to the people of South Tyneside.

The strategy explains the importance of equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB).

It describes our approach to EDIB and sets out an initial plan of action for future activity. 

Every year we will produce an Equality Information Report, which will provide an update on activity carried out.

We will also provide an update in the Council's Quarterly Performance Reports.
