Christmas opening times

The opening times for Restart Integrated Domestic Abuse Service over the festive period are:

  • Tuesday 24 December: 9am to 1pm
  • Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 December: Closed
  • Friday 27 and Monday 30 December: 9am to 6pm
  • Tuesday 31 December: 9am to 1pm
  • Wednesday 1 January: Closed

Overview

The Restart Integrated Domestic Abuse Service provides confidential, non-judgemental support to those who are experiencing all forms of Domestic Abuse and are living and working in South Tyneside. 

The service allows its users to continue their lives whilst embracing their journey, a journey which has provided them with the strength to reach out for help.

The service also allows victims and their families to live in safety. 

This is offered through:

  • One-to-one confidential, non-judgmental, independent support
  • Risk assessment, risk management and safety planning
  • Specialist independent gender-based violence advocacy (IGVA) to support those at risk of serious harm
  • A specialist service for young children who have witnessed or directly experienced domestic abuse
  • Group support
  • Perpetrator Intervention Programme
  • Information and support about options

Support available

Everyone's needs are individual to them and their circumstances.

We aim to create support plans that help keep you (and your children) safe, whilst helping to rebuild your free from violence and fear.

This may include:

  • Emotional support - Talk to someone who understands what you are going through
  • Receive support contacting the police
  • How you can keep safe in your own home
  • Practical advocacy in regard to housing and benefits
  • Attendance and support at court hearings and meetings with other agencies
  • Find out about support networks in your community
  • Receive specialist support for your children
  • Assistance in accessing legal advice and representation e.g., to obtain injunctions or for immigration advice
  • Support if you are abusing your partner to recognise and change your behaviour
  • Access a refuge (confidential emergency temporary accommodation)
  • Move away from the area
  • Support and safety planning for the future

Who can access the service

Support is available for anyone living in South Tyneside impacted by domestic abuse.
