Gambling Act Policy

About this publication

This Statement of Licensing Policy provides guidance on the approach South Tyneside Council will take when exercising its functions under the Gambling Act 2005.

This Statement forms the Council's order for managing local gambling provision, and sets out:

  • how the Council views the local risk environment
  • the expectations it has in relation to licensees with premises in South Tyneside

Update to policy

We have recently carried out consultation which will help us as we develop an updated policy.

This new policy is expected to be presented to Cabinet and Full Council in early 2025. Once approved, it will be adopted and updated on our website.
