Boat launching ramp at Littlehaven

The Council operates a launching ramp on the River Tyne, next to South Shields Sailing Club on Harbour Drive.

Using the ramp

To use the ramp, you need a permit and appropriate insurance.

Types of permit

Private and club permits are available.

The licence holder must read the permit guidance and safety information.

Permit prices

Annual licence (club): £98.00 inc VAT

Annual licence (private): £132.50 inc VAT

You can buy a permit from the Shop at The Word.

What to bring with you to get a permit

You must bring: 

• proof of current up to date insurance
• proof of your previous permit sticker (if you're renewing a permit)
