Funding Agreed for South Tyneside Community
Residents in a South Tyneside community are set to benefit from funding.
The Hebburn Community Area Forum (CAF) last week agreed funding for a number of projects including the resurfacing of streets and money to repair brickwork and planters was also awarded to South Tyneside Homes.
Chair of the CAF, Councillor Wilf Flynn, said: "We are delighted to have awarded funding for schemes and to community groups within the Hebburn area.
"We discuss a wide range of issues at our Forums, from community safety to homes, and are doing our best to ensure that residents are still able to find out what is happening in their local community during this difficult time."
At its meeting in April earlier this year, South Tyneside Council's cabinet approved funding totalling just over £1.4million across all five Community Area Forums covering the period from May 2020 to February 2021.
An additional £2,000 of funding has also been provided to each CAF into a separate funding pot to be used for communities' response to Covid-19.
Money from this pot has been donated to local community groups by the Hebburn CAF to support the organisations and its users during the Coronavirus pandemic.
