24GEN04 - Improving Grammar Subject Knowledge in KS2

Content:

Do you need to refresh and secure key grammar subject knowledge in KS2?  This session will reinforce existing knowledge while also ensuring that you are familiar with current terminology used in the teaching of grammar.  By ensuring that you are confident and secure in your grasp of grammar this will build a strong foundation for consistent support as pupils develop skills in the effective analysis and use of language.  Content covered includes:

• An introduction to word classes & KS2 grammar terminology
• Tricky punctuation, such as the use of commas, colons, semi-colons, hyphens and dashes
• The grammar of sentence construction
• Grammar resources - practical activities & games to use back in class

Expected Impact on Schools:

• All practitioners will gain a secure understanding of the expectations of the KS2 Grammar Curriculum
