Help for Young People to Take the Next Steps
Two events will be held next month to help young people take the next steps into education, training or employment.
The first event next Thursday (5 October) is aimed at young people aged between 14 and 25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The Your Next Steps Live - Preparation for Adulthoodevent will be held at Jarrow Focus between 1.30 and 6.30pm.
Among the exhibitors at the event will be South Tyneside College, Prince's Trust, Connexions South Tyneside and ASK Apprenticeships.
Councillor Jane Carter, Lead Member for Education and Skills, said: "Moving into adulthood can be more challenging for young people with special educational needs and disabilities. This event will give these young people the opportunity to speak to organisations who can support them to become as independent and confident as possible."
The second event is an education, employment and training fair for all young people and their parents and carers will be held on Thursday, 19 October to showcase post-16 options and long-term career opportunities.
A range of exhibitors including teams within the Council, the NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbria Police, the Foundation of Light and Nissan will be at the event at Temple Park Leisure Centre between 3.30pm and 7pm.
Cllr Carter said: "The Your Next Steps event has grown in size and scale over the years with more and more people attending each year.
"Young people tell us they find these types of events incredibly useful so I would encourage them and their parents to come along to help them make informed decisions about their future."
