Overview

Public access trauma (PAcT) kits for major injuries are now available in publicly accessible locations across South Tyneside.

The kits can be used by anyone to provide an immediate response to major injuries until the emergency services arrive.

How to use the trauma kits

The kits contain clear written and visual instructions so anyone can use them, regardless of if they have any first aid training.

The sealed green and white kits contain items including:

  • tourniquets (use to apply pressure to stop the flow of blood)
  • trauma wound dressings
  • bandages
  • scissors
  • CPR face shields

The kits are designed to support the treatment of immediate, life threatening injuries such as major bleeding or when people are unresponsive or not breathing.
