Job Hunters Invited to Meet Prospective Employers
A multi-sector jobs fair showcasing current vacancies is being staged in South Tyneside next week.
The event will provide an opportunity to meet a wide range of major local employers who are recruiting right now.
Job seekers and anyone else considering their career options are invited about to speak to prospective employers and learn about the roles on offer across all industries and sectors.
Around 30 high-profile local businesses including South Tyneside Homes, Zenith, The Sea Hotel, Glendale, Search Construction, Springfield Healthcare, Tritility, Sunderland Foundation Of Light and Blue Arrow are already confirmed to attend.
There will also be eight training providers who will be on hand to talk to residents about upskilling, access to work, re-training, self-employment support and confidence building.
The event, on July 13, has been organised by South Tyneside Council and the Department for Work and Pensions.
Cllr Margaret Meling, Lead Member for Economic Growth, Skills and Climate Change, said: "Connecting residents to jobs and skills is one of the council's five ambitions.
"This event will provide a great platform for anyone who is unemployed or considering their future job or training options. The fair will span all sectors, including care, customer service, education logistics, green, energy and transport.
"They will be able to speak to prospective employers who are hiring right now and gain valuable insight and advice about getting into the world of work, how companies operate and the vacancies available. It's also an opportunity for firms to source local candidates.
"With around 400 people expected to attend, this promises to be a great event."
The event, which will take place at South Shields Town Hall from 10am to 2pm, is open to anyone and registration is not necessary.
