Overview
To operate a public weighbridge, you need a certificate of competence issued by the Chief Inspector of Weights and Measures for South Tyneside Council.

Eligibility criteria
You must have sufficient knowledge for the proper performance of your duties.
Tacit consent
Tacit consent is implied consent which comes from not recieving a reply.
It is in the public interest that the Council must process your application before it can be granted.
If you have not heard from the Council within a reasonable period, please contact us.

Appeal a decision
To appeal a decision, you should contact South Tyneside Council in the first instance.
You may appeal to the National Measurement Office if your application is refused.
If you have a complaint
If you have a complaint, we advise that you contact the trader, preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery).
If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Consumer Direct will give you advice.
