Course aims
- To give participants an opportunity to look in closer detail at the 10 areas of abuse included in the Care Act
- To equip participants with the skills and knowledge to recognise potential abuse
- To provide the information to be able to make an appropriate safeguarding referral
Course learning outcomes
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Define adult abuse
- Recognise the ten categories of abuse
- Recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse
- Handle disclosure and take immediate action
- Know when to report abuse
- Understand capacity, consent and confidentiality in the safeguarding process
- Understand South Tyneside's Safeguarding Adults Procedures
