Request a copy of a birth certificate

You can get a copy of a birth certificate from the Register Office.

You can either:

• visit the Register Office - Monday to Friday, 9am to 3.45pm, or 
• call 0191 424 6350 - Monday to Friday, 9am to 2.30pm

 Appointments are not needed.

To find a record from a birth register you need to provide details regarding:

• where and when the birth occurred
• the full name of the person

Any other additional information, such as the parents name / age / occupation at the birth, may also help the registrar to find the correct record.
