Council's Commitment to Local Communities

More than £1.5million of grants is set to be allocated to local projects and schemes in the next municipal year.

Members of the Cabinet will be asked to approve the allocation of funds which will be administered through the five Community Area Forums.

The CAFs have an important role in empowering communities and providing residents with a voice on issues affecting their local neighbourhood.

Councillor Joanne Bell, Lead Member for Governance, Finance and Corporate Services, said: "We recognise that local people are best placed to tell us what their priorities are for their own neighbourhoods and this funding allows us to meet those needs.

"Residents can raise ideas and neighbourhood solutions with their ward councillors and gain support for their projects which could benefit the whole community."

She added: "This funding will enable us to continue to support small-scale locally important projects which contribute towards the Council's community priorities."

The Cabinet will meet to discuss the matter next Wednesday (25 May).
