Budding apprentices will have the chance to find out more about job opportunities in South Tyneside next week.

South Tyneside Homes' successful apprenticeship scheme is currently advertising a range of trade and office-based apprenticeships. These include Electrician, Painter, Plasterer, Joiner, Housing and Customer Service roles.

To help budding apprentices in the application process, South Tyneside Council will be hosting an interactive Q&A session on social media on Monday 2 March from 5pm to 6pm. #AskTheEmployer will give those interested in applying for a role the chance to ask South Tyneside Homes staff questions about their apprenticeship vacancies, what to expect and advice on the application process.

Councillor Ed Malcolm, Chair of South Tyneside Homes' Board, said: "During their time as an apprentice at South Tyneside Homes, youngsters get to work with and learn from highly skilled tradespeople and experienced office-based workers to help them achieve their goals and prepare them for working life.

"The South Tyneside Homes apprenticeship programme has been recognised on a local and national level. It is a great opportunity for those looking to kickstart their career and develop their skills.

"The Q&A session is sure to be beneficial to the next generation of apprentices and I would encourage those interested to get involved."

Megan Archbold, an Electrical Apprentice at South Tyneside Homes is one of 35 apprentices currently employed for the housing company.

Megan said: "Thinking to before my apprenticeship, I was excited, nervous and hopeful but I think my experience so far has been excellent. This was definitely the right choice for me and it's already given me priceless real world experience through work, and I know this process will continue to develop me as a person."
