Overview
Underage drinking often results in alcohol fuelled youth disorder and anti-social behaviour. There is also concern about the adverse health effects on children who drink alcohol.
It is illegal to sell intoxicating liquor to anyone under 18. The maximum fine is £5000 but also the trader could face losing their licence.
It is also illegal for adults to purchase alcohol on behalf of under 18s. Maximum fine: £1000.
