Tyne Dock Flood Study
South Tyneside Council has launched an important study to better understand flood risk in the Tyne Dock area.
The Tyne Dock Flood Study aims to identify and map areas at risk of coastal, river and surface water flooding. This includes risks todat and in the future due to climate change.
The project will:
- model flood water levels and flows
- assess impacts of climate change and sea level rise
- indentify 'hot spots' vulnerable to flooding
- determine drainage capacities needed for the future
- engage with the community on local flood risk
The study will help South Tyneside Council enhance flood defenses and improve drainage systems. This will increase protection for residents, businesses and infrastructure in Tyne Dock.
